You may have heard me say once or twice that a designer’s home is never finished. I’ve been in my current apartment for almost two years now and while I love my bedroom and the direction it’s going, it just needs a little tweaking and some small updates to call it complete. Since the One Room Challenge is starting this tomorrow, I’ve decided to share a mini makeover update on my master including my plan to pull it all together in today’s post.
It’s been a long time coming of slowly buying items and furniture pieces here and there… of course because I can never make up my mind on what I really want. I know what I do want: I want a bright white and neutral space. How typical of me, right? I also want to mix in hints of rustic/ boho details without having them clash too much. What a task. Keep scrolling to see the current status of my bedroom and what my plans are for finishing it!
I love how crisp the black curtain rod looks on the white walls with my white sheer curtains, but I’m leaning more towards mushroom/ brown accents in my room now. I’m thinking switching to this gold curtain rod will pair well with my bedside lamps. (Thanks to my friend Maggie for finding this amazing dupe to the West Elm rods that I love!)
I found these two prints from Lowe’s (Yes, Lowe’s) and I knew I had to have them. They quickly turned into my inspiration for my bedroom update and I’m so excited to get them hung up above my bed in place of the baskets! And they’re under $50 each!

I have so many little things, trinkets, decor items, whatever you want to call them – I’ve got them. And they seem to be accumulating on my dresser and gold side table in my room. My goal here is to just clean this space up. I’ll also be simplifying my beloved gallery wall since it’s across from my bed and I’m hanging my new prints from Lowe’s… I don’t want this space to look too cluttered. Now to patch up all the holes in the wall!
Here’s my plan:
What do you think? I’d love to hear your thoughts – I’m also looking to figure out which color baskets to pair with my white nightstands… Let me know which color you prefer in the comments below!
